Help Please - Looking for Event Inspector Module
HI,
How do you change the input channel on a single midi note...Ive seen mention of an Event Inspector Module that apparently allows you do this at midi note level but can't find the module in protools? Any help greatly appreciated I'm running PT 2020.12 |

Re: Help Please - Looking for Event Inspector Module
I'm lost on the issue and the question. I have never heard the term "input channel" used for a midi note. What is the end goal? Maybe if we know what that is, a solution can be offered(or I'm a complete idiot and will learn something here)

Re: Help Please - Looking for Event Inspector Module
First of all mea culpa…where i saw what i wanted to do explained it was in relation to SONAR (not ProTools) where there is an Event Inspection Module. It appears there is one in Logic too - but thats no good to me.
Anyway in answer to your question…I'm using Session Horns (Native Instruments), and it has a way to modify the articulation of specific notes played by specific horns by sending just those notes to a different MIDI channel. So you have your main Horns line going out on one MIDI channel but then in Kontakt u can open up another iteration of Session Horns and pick a specific articulation on a specific note going out on a different MIDI channel. In this video it describes how to do it in Logic as an example. https://youtu.be/pwD8BRidtVM Im wondering is there a way to change the MIDI channel of a single note (or sometimes group of notes) in PT as described for Logic? Re: Help Please - Looking for Event Inspector Module
Okay, 2 things come to my mind on this:
1-do you really need a different midi channel or just a different midi note(many Kontact instruments use a range of notes for articulations). Wondering if Session Horns offers the same. 2-you could create a new midi track, select the note you need to change and hit Ctrl-X(to cut), arrow up/down to the new midi track and hit Ctrl-V(to paste) and set this new midi track to the required midi channel.

Re: Help Please - Looking for Event Inspector Module
Hi Dave, thanks for the reply.
As described in the you tube vid once you have created the complete phrase in a Performance iteration of Session Horns with Kontakt, you then setup in the same Kontakt instance separate Single Articulation iterations for each of the articulations you want to apply to the notes within that phrase. As can be seen in the screen grabs (hope I attached them correctly :-/) , the Single Articulation is assigned to a different MIDI channel to the phrase created in the Performance iteration. then in the DAW he accesses the "List" window and he changes the MIDI Channel for specific notes in the phrase that he wants the Single Articulation instance to apply to. So the equivalent of that "Lists" window (in the screen grab) which is in SONAR and Logic (apparently) is what i was looking for in PT - the closest to it i think is the MIDI Event list window but that doesn't show the MIDI channel for each note so can't be changed. |

Re: Help Please - Looking for Event Inspector Module
Hi Dave, thanks for the links...unfortunately they don't deal with the issue which I guess is specific to using Session Horns within ProTools...and as PT doesn't show me the Channel-per-MIDI note and allow me to change it anywhere I'll seek out another solution to my problem.
Thanks a lot for taking the time to reply, much appreciated |
