PT8.05 with Mbox Mini 3 - PC wont recognise hardware

Wondering if anyone can advise me.

A friend bought an Mbox Mini 3 second hand. He also has PT8.05 on Windows 7. However the computer does not recognise the Mbox hardware. He has asked me for help, but i dont know these interfaces (I use a 002R), anyway I have installed the drivers , uninstalled and reinstalled them multiple times.

I always thought that when you plug in an "unknown" USB device, that Windows will pop up a "find drivers" dialog, but on this unit it doesnt. All I have is a blue power light on the unit but no life. So then I tried it on at least 4 other computers and same thing - they didnt even recognise that i'd plugged anything into a USB socket.

Can anyone shed some light on this ? I am not sure what to try next... Is it possible that the unit is faulty ?
