Default Genelec 1030AM Opinions Please.

Anyone using/have experience of Genelec 1030AM's. Reasonable price and size if they are workable. Please let me know, thanks in advance.

If you meen the 1030A's (AM...?) I just got a pair about three weeks ago. For my room size, I couldn't imagine anything better nor have I ever heard any studio monitors that sound quite as "real".

FWIW, I'm very very impressed by them.

Pretty sure that's what I mean. HHB Catalogue calls them 1030AM!
Anyone else have any experience, positive or negative?

The "M" means they´re magnetically shielded.

I've had a pair for about five years and have been extremely happy with them. I find that they can make you work, but that's a good thing. When things are right, they sound fantastic and when there are problems, they reveal them. They're definitely a popular monitor - do a search in the DUC or the rec.audio.pro newsgroup and you'll finds lots on posts.

The Genelec 1030a's are perhaps the most popular nearfield monitor today. Just check out mix magazines monthly studio info and pictures, you will consistantly see the 1030a's in combo with NS-10's. We use this exact combo and find it to be perfect for any application. The 1030a's are transparant, with good low end, and very smooth, non fatiguing high end response. You made an excellent choice.

You will not be disappointed.

FYI, there is no longer an unshielded version. Thus the only shipping version is called "1030APM".

I just bought (5) 1030s and a 1092 for a new surround mixing room. I can't wait to get it set up.

The 1030 is a grown up NS10M.

The 1030s are better than their slightly larger progeny, the 1031s, just as a violin is acoustically more ideal than a viola.

My personal opinion is that they are great for listening back but are fairly useless for eq and level selection/correction. They sound so good that everything sounds good. I know of several engineers who love them but just as many who hate them, myself included. They are absolutely nothing like ns-10's.
Personally I found them inacurate in the high's and unable to handle the lows without overloading and distorting. The 1029 (the little guys) are much more accurate though they have little bass do to the 5 inch woofer. The 1032 was not bad but considering the cost I would buy something else. I just don't think they are good for mixing on unless you have several other monitors that you trust to go back to. I recently had an engineer tell me he loved them, until he got to mastering and heard how bad his mixes were, he was very unhappy.
