MIDI MACHINE CONTROL HELP!!!

I have my MPC 2000xl as my master and i want pro tools as my slave. I set pro tools to recieve MMC (via the refrence guide) and my MPC to send MMC to pro tools..when i press play on my MPC pro tools starts to play (which is what I want) but I cant record any tracks from my MPC intio pro tools..i have the record eneble on but when i press play..no record (stays blinking red)....HELP! Thanks for your time.
