D-Command Faders and Electrical Building Issues
Hey all,
I have a 24-fader D-Command ED and the site where my room is in recently had a complete change in the electrical supply. I am not 100% what the change has been but I am pretty sure it is affecting my D-Command: "fighting" faders, one fader is not working, etc. The change in the electrical supply created a noise (at about 8KHz) with my speakers. I got a 230v to 230v isolation transformer, thing which has ameliorated the issue a bit. I connected my D-Command straight to the isolation transformer, hoping that everything would work perfectly then. But the didn't. In fact, one of the channel name LEDS, in one of the channel strips goes black. I get different fighting faders and so on. Any ideas how I might be able to fix this? |

Re: D-Command Faders and Electrical Building Issues
for testing and narrowing down that your D-Command is healthy: is there any way you can get electricity from another place by using a cable drum? or even pull out the D-Command and bring it somewhere else where you know electrics are 1a ok?
Having high frequency noise in your speakers after a change in your mains wiring seems a bit alarming, are you sure everything was done up to code? I would try and fix the issue at the source for sure... |

Re: D-Command Faders and Electrical Building Issues
Do you have a solid earth ground? In the past, poor or no grounding would cause this on most(maybe all) the Digidesign/Avid controllers. Plus, in a highly humid area(like near a lake or ocean), that can screw with the C24(assuming it could also affect D-Command). Can you try strapping on a grounding strap to your wrist and see if that helps(if it does, that points to a grounding issue). Since you just had major electrical work done, my money is on grounding
