I have tons of plugins (complete plugin bundle) that I avoid using because my understanding is that if my upgrade plan ever lapses, I will no longer have access to them. I would LOVE to see this no longer the case for perpetual users.

For example, I believe Synth Cell and Sample Cell were put under that same agreement, that they only work as long as we have a "subscription" whether it is a traditional subscription or a current Upgrade plan.

Is this correct?
AFAIK there's been no policy changes here. But in the case of the Cells, I'd have thought you'd be okay as they're in Pro Tools Intro. Hopefully someone can confirm as technically Intro is a different license to a lapsed Studio sub.

Just so I have this clear, if you are currently on a PT Ultimate Perpetual License, you can let the license lapse and not upgrade it and then if you decide to
'upgrade' later on, you can be reinstated at a later date by purchasing a PT Ultimate Perpetual Upgrade - $399.

Is that correct?

Is there an upgrade path from Studio perpetual to Ultimate perpetual, or do I have to pony up the $1500 for a license?

If your update and support plan lapses you can subscribe to the Complete Plugin Bundle for $49/yr (yes, $49 per year).

Help me understand this. Perpetual means you buy it outright, no more renting (or subscription).

What about when PT 2024.x comes out, do you get upgrades or do you have to buy maintenance on top of the one-time license purchase? If so, What would be the cost of the annual maintenance contract?

Yes. You re-up your perpetual to a year of coverage (that ends after that year unless you re-up again).

Studio Perpetual re-up would be $199 each year
Ultimate Perpetual re-up would be $399 each year.

When you stop paying for these, that's where your Perpetual is frozen for versions.

Except now, you can start this again at a later date for the same cost per year. (this is the real change)

These upgrade details are not clear whatsoever as far as Studio Perpetual Upgrade for $199 so….

i own 4 licenses of Protools....and these are my scenarios

what's cost of going from Perpetual PT11 to Perpetual Studio 2023.9?

what's cost of going from yearly $299 subscription of PT Studio to Perpetual Studio 2023.9?

what's cost of going from monthly $39.99 subscription of PT Studio to Perpetual Studio 2023.9?

thank you in advance...

Yes, this makes a major difference in things. Luckily my re ups were all before the COVID lockdown and now the strikes.
But going into next year I may have to wait as its getting really tight for a lot of people out here. As you know.

Are you unclear on what a subscription is? You have nothing when you stop paying. There is no “upgrade” from nothing. If you want to change tiers on subscriptions, you stop on one and start the other. But they are still subscriptions. That’s it.

You have nothing to change to Perpetual from a subscription. Nothing. You have no license to upgrade when you stop paying.

If you want a perpetual license and have a subscription you pay full price. Because you own no license.

I'm sure some Avid sales rep would be happy to upsell you a more expensive subscription, you just need to contact them as there is no automatic way for it.
