Default DAE (-9073) Error Message Help Needed

Hey everyone ok so i am trying to troubleshoot a problem for a friend. I have her computer her mbox2 and so that i can try to figure this out but i am not an avid/pro user of PT here is the system we have

Pro Tools LE 8 Version 8.0.4

Toshiba Satellite Laptop Model L505D
Windows 7 Home Premium 32bit
3.00gb RAM
288gb Hard Drive
MBOX2 Mini

When she tries to record she gets the following error message:

DAE cant get audio from the drives fast enough. Your drive may be too slow or fragmented, or a firewire drive could be having trouble due to the extra bandwith or cpu load (-9073)

i have just defragged the drive and i still get the same error message.

can someone please help me out and let me know what i can do... please let me know if any other info is needed.

thanks !!

My guess it you are recording to the system hard drive. Not approved. You need another hard drive to record to. Can be either Internal, external E-Sata or an approved firewire hard drive. PT9 on windows 7 can be used with USB 2.0 drives, but not approved for PT8.

Also be sure to always Run Pro Tools with Run As Admin.

And do the required optimizations.

I personally dont do them all, such as i leave Areo on all the time, but you can set PT up to automatically disable Areo when launched. I also leave indexing On, but make certain compression is OFF. I am not suggestion you follow my example, just letting you know. I would follow Avids recommendations, then when you are more experienced you can decide what you need to do for your system.

And I would suggest that you turn off Auto Defrag. Also turn off User Account Control.

Here is a video Playlist I put together of the Windows 7 Optimizations videos put out by Avid.

Is this correct ? can any one suggest such a drive ?

there is also an e-sata port on this laptop will that work with an e-sata drive ? I read somewhere that it wasn't aproved is this true or not ?

also lets say she were to get rid of this laptop and get macbook pro would she still be having these issues ?

An eSATA with the above specs will be fine.
