Has anyone noticed that it takes a lot longer to find and re-link files in PT12+ as opposed to PT 10?

I just upgraded and the difference is night and day. PT 10 is much faster finding and re-linking missing files. Is there something I'm missing?

That depends of where the files are and how much it has to scan. No session is the same.

Yes, but with PT 10 I could just point it to the main drive and it would scan / find files anywhere in the drive pretty quick. With the new PT I have to actually point it to the folder where I know the files are, otherwise it takes FOREVER to find them.

Just wondering if there's a way to speed up the process or if there's a new setting I'm missing?

I envy your experience as in all my years of using Pro Tools, I never saw that behavior. In my experience, it always dragged in locating files. So I have always pointed it to the proper folder first before hitting find.

Do you have spotlight on (and the drives with your files not excluded)?
I forget when the change was but spotlight is required to have fast relinking. That was a change from before when Avid told everyone to turn it off.

If on Windows, I believe you need to have Windows Indexing on for the same reason.
