Default Omni New 950.00

Is it me, I think that you can easily get a brand new unopened Omni for 950.00 on eBay?

Is it not that good? I've heard it's amazingly good, so why so cheap?

The only one I've seen was a used one for 999. If I remember right, it was mentioned that Avid has no authorized reseller selling on Ebay, that should point out something.

I've seen them sell used for $1200, which is still cheap for what they are. I've also seen 16x16's selling for $2200-2400, which also doesn't make sense.

Avid is making everyone who buys a hd system also buy and interface bundled. So their are a lot of extra interfaces floating around.

Yeah, but then again you need to get the transfer form written up from the seller to get the hardware transfer, which also says that the related software must be transferred also. If not then you will never be the actual owner of the hardware you just bought, halting any exchanges in the future, repairs and all.

There are two right now on eBay and I have corresponded with one and they both are brand new, and the one I have emailed says his was never opened or registered.

I have seen a lot of them sub 1k, but today was the first time I saw brand new ones going for less than 1k.

Look, for me this topic is not about price, but more about the quality.

Everything I've read says they sound amazing, which if that is accurate, why the heck are they selling so cheap?

Probably they already have enough interfaces and are selling off the one that Avid's policy forced them to buy. One man's garbage is another man's treasure, right? :)

I just read the transfer form....nothing in the forms says that the software has to be transferred.

If you transfer ownership of hardware to someone, what good does it make if there is no software that works with the hardware? Transfer of ownership means re-registering Core Interface and the software license that goes with it.
