Digi 003 Console Question
I have a Mac dual 2.7 G5 with 7gb of memory.
I've plugged a Digi 003 console unit into it and am using the most current version of PT8LE. Mac OS 10.5.8 Everything installed okay, but when I hit play a message pops up saying I need to increase the buffer size. Did it. Went all the up to 1024 and chose the most minimal settings for everything else. 1 CPU for RTAS. A range of 75 to 99% for cpu. The best that will happen is the song I'm writing ( which at the moment is 17 tracks with no plug ins) will play for maybe 30 seconds, stop, then the buffer message pops up. Error -6093. Any Ideas? Thanks! -Chris |

Re: Digi 003 Console Question
Check ALL your plugins for compatibility.. Doesn't matter if you are using it in the session or not..
Search the forum for "tech support utility". This will lead you to a link for the utility. It creates a list of all your plugins and their versions. You have to run it TWICE.. the first time it won't return the version numbers.. You can copy/paste the list into a post on this thread and others might see something wrong.. 1 RTAS processor and 99% should be your correct settings.. You may also want to turn off RTAS warnings, which will allow the session to play, but could allow through some clicks/pops/errors... How big is your session? what plugins are you using?

Re: Digi 003 Console Question
I'll take a look at the list thanks.
I had an HD3 setup installed on this Mac earlier, but now want to use it for the Digi console and PTLE. I think I went through and removed all the non useable plugs, but I will double check with the utility you suggested. headed over there right now. Thanks a bunch! -Chris |

Re: Digi 003 Console Question
I didn't notice you said 17 tracks, no plugs so far.. So you're not pushing the computer very hard at all..
Incompatible plugin is still the first suspect, then you might look at some of the optimizations in the troubleshooting thread, particularly turning off FW networking.. Hopefully it is as simple as a bad plugin version

Re: Digi 003 Console Question
I'm checking stuff right now.
by the way, Is there a way to clear out all that Digi HD stuff without having to re-install OSX? I don't have the PT HD install disk anymore. |

Re: Digi 003 Console Question
Man, I've tried quite a bit of stuff, now. Removing the old PT8HD stuff using the PT8HD & then the PT8LE program un-installer's. Removed everything Digi as well as all the old plug-ins from the hard drive. ( I do have a seperate drive for audio recording. The two drives in the Mac are 750gb drives 7200 Rpm.) Removed and repaired permissions, etc. But still the following message will pop up on the Mac stopping playback:
"The operating system held off interupts for too long. If this error occurs frequently, try increasing the H/W buffer size in the play back engine panel. (-6086). I've adjusted the buffer size and CPU settings all through the ranges. No help. The setup was working smoothly with my HD setup. Any ideas what's happening with this PT8LE install? Here's my equipment and basic setup: Dual 2.7 G5 with 7gb of Ram, OSX 10.5.8, two 750gb hard drives, one dedicated to PT audio Console Digi 003, plugged directly into one of the macs firewire ports Things I've tried to fix the problem: 1) deleted those digidesign database folders on each folder and the stuff I mentioned above. 2) checked to see that both hard drives are "Mac OS extended (Journaled) 3) Made sure my Airport and bluetooth were off 4) turned off screensaver and typical stuff recommeded to turn off 5) closed all other programs. Mac is setup basically just for PT8. 6) tried adjusting buffer size, CPU limit, #of processor cores, ect. Thanks again! -Chris |

Re: Digi 003 Console Question
After reading some other threads concerning the error message I was getting, a Digi Admin, suggested unplugging the firewire cable from the rear firewire port and plugging into the front port on the Mac......
Amazingly, this seems to be working! I'm still testing it but after 4 play backs of the tune I am working on, no error messages. The buffer/cpu stuff is set up as default. Any idea why the front firewire port would work with the 003, but not the rear one? I get signal from both ports so I know that rear 400 port is working. Thanks again! -Chris |
