Default Revolution 7.1 w/ Pro Tools LE?

I'm gearing up to get back into audio production after a few years off (had baby), and would like to move into surround sound for music creation and playback, mixing, etc... I'm wondering what would be the most optimal and affordable way to setup a room with an 003, perhaps, to input my instruments into pro tools, and then output to 7.1 surround system (say an M-Audio Revolution 7.1).

Having no idea what I'm talking about... could I set this up and configure Pro Tools to have a number of mixes with various configs for pre-mixed 7.1 sessions... for jamming/live recording?

----------
Mix 1 = Bass in back speakers and sub, velvet in side speakers ocilating, drums in all speakers w/ strike or whatever, piano using plugin to swirl around all 7 speakers, etc...

Mix 2 = Some other configuration...

Etc...
----------

This way we could jam in a defined 3 dimensional space... so sick of stereo production.

Am I in space, or does this make sense? Do I need HD, a completely different setup, etc??

LE not really able to do surround (yet?). There are workarounds, but they are workarounds. Read the manual re surround. You'll probably need an HD system.
