Default AAE -9173 errors, MacBook Pro 15 inch, Mid 2012, PT11.1.2, New SSD's and RAM

Hello ,

Macbook Pro, HD11, Universal Audio setup (full specs below).

Problem: AAE -9173 errors

I after switching to SSD's and doubling my RAM from 8 to 16GB last week, I have been getting AAE -9173 errors. This new RAM passed a memtest. for the SSD's Trim Support is enabled.

Even in sessions that use only about 20-50% of my UA resources, and the average total CPU on the Pro Tools System Usage meters (disk 1%. memory 15%).

Regarding the most recent error:
Session format: 24bit/44.1Khz, BWAV

Less than 20 mono audio tracks, a half dozen stereo tracks, dozen mixed mono, stereo auxes. Very small. I would generally have few if any issues on a session this small before I increased RAM and switched to SSD's.

I hope someone has some insight … I would love a (more) stable rig.

Suggestions?

My system:

MacBook Pro 15 inch, Mid 2012

* Processor: 2.6 GHz Intel Core i7

* Memory: 16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3 {purchased recently, passed metest twice]

* Internal Drive 1 (system drive): Samsung SSD 840 EVO 1TB

* Internal Drive 2 (optical bay, record drive): Samsung SSD 840 EVO 250GB

* Trim Support: Yes

DAW:

* Pro Tools HD11.1.2

* Playback Engine: Universal Audio Apollo

* H/W Buffer Size: 1024 Samples
* Host Engine Ignores Errors during Playback/Record: OFF
* Dynamic Plug-in Procession: OFF
* Video Engine Enable: OFF

Interface:

* Universal Audio Apollo Quad, Thunderbolt Card

* Software: UAD Powered Plugins 7.5.0 02-14-2014 build 6455

Expansion Chassis:

* Magma ExpressBox 3T, Thunderbolt to PCIe

* UA Quad PCIe card

Am I seeing this right, Eric? Do you not have an external drive (hard drive or SSD)?

And that should be Plenty of power for this computer

No need for external drives as thats the same as 2 separate SSD drives

I'm not a tech, just the forum admin, but here's what I would try.

Is there any way you can try a different recording drive, adding an external drive some way (to eliminate the possibility that the SSD connected via optical drive bay is a factor)?

Apple also officially only supports 8GB memory for this model. I Don't think it's the reason for your trouble, because it might just be that Apple didn't have suitable 16GB sticks to test when that model was introduced. Just sayin'

Update:

Ok, I went through (like I am a newbie) and checked every single item on this list:

[find by searching]
Avid Knowledge BaseMac Guide - Mac OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion Optimizations and Troubleshooting

Also, I have (just installed) turned off Virus protection when pro tools is on.

Things seem better. I will update with thread when I have more info. Thank you all so far.

Well, this problem is back. Makes no sense.

This thread didn't help:
http://avid.force.com/pkb/articles/e...kbase&filter=0

Also, It has been crashing numerous times today, just closing a session, OR switching playback engine.

I swapped the OWC 16GB Ram back to the mac 8GB ram sticks, numerous times, no change (-9173 and the crashes above).
