So where are we now with the Standalone Editor?

here's a thought: outsourcing. pay a guy like bzer to do the GUI for them. Bzer himself said it shouldn't take but a few days for any decent code writer to get it done....if no one in corporate tells him what color and a bunch of other crap as listed above.

i don't care who's fault it is....companies are shooting themselves in the foot with this crap!

I didn't mean to bail on you guys or sneak away...sorry if things appeared that way. I just needed to get a quick consensus from the core community. I knew that there was a risk of causing a ruckus...

Bottom line on the Standalone Editor, folks here are still looking at a few options and making some very tough decisions on which way to go. I don't make these decisions, but my (and thereby your) input is definitely received and understood by those who do. So thanks again for the incredible response yesterday. That was really amazing.

I've been really busy handling AAX Plug-ins lately, so I haven't had nearly the time I would like to have to keep up with this forum. Sorry about that. I miss this place...sigh. I'll try to check in more often.

I've been away for the forums for a while, getting things in order, so I missed all the buzz on this 'bzer' fellow. Where do I find him and his app before Avid shuts him down?

Thanks for the response, TheChimp. Glad to hear something. Sorry to be so cynical, but I think most of us 11R user have lost all confidence in Avid. We'd definitely love to have it restored though.

Actually, I like my profession. There were two shops that the rant is quite indicative of, sadly enough. Those are the two former places of employment that are still in business. One is government. 'oy! Never again.

Seriosly, though, the point is that there are very real project development lifecycles that every company has to go through. To compare their developers to one guy without restrictions is an insult.

Another point , I don't think that I would suggest that the actual code writing is the hold up. If this "theChimp" fellow is as y'all state, he's probably already got it written in his head at least, and probably has 90% of it done as a proof of concept and probably uses it in his office rather than firing up PT. He wouldn't be the first dev to write up a little handy utility for personal use.
