PT Native Card 11.3 OS 10.10.1 running

Hey All,

I have a Mac 5,1 tower quad core machine and I have upgraded to PT 11.3 and I also upgraded to OS 10.10.1. I have a Native card as well.

The install went well and the machine runs well. I wanted to give a quick reference of my experience. I have been mixing 3 songs for a while so I'm very familiar with how the machine has run while I've been mixing. There are no VI's and I only have about 18 tracks of physical audio playing back. I do have a lot of buss schemes and many plugins. I like to do a lot of subtle harmonic coloring so there are lots of saturators and such.

One of the three songs I built up until I would get 9173 errors. It really couldn't do a full playback any longer on 11.2.1. I could however bounce the file to disk and it could do that entire process. So I must have been right on the edge.

PT 11.3 and OS 10.10.1 must be a tiny bit more efficient. Now I can playback that session and it will do full playbacks with no errors.

I also did a record test of 8 audio tracks and I had two busses. One buss had a Reverb plug and the other buss had an echo effect. I dropped it into record to and walked away. It was still recording 25 minutes later with no errors.

I'm starting a full on tracking session in a few days. I'll report back if I find anything interesting but so far so good.

Thanks for the update. How does system audio perform outside of PT?

I've just completed a fresh install of Yosemite 10.10.1 and the new 11.3 HD drivers and am not able to set my HDN card as an output device in the Audio/MIDI utility or the Sound System Preference. Avid CoreAudio recognizes it but is unable to engage any clients

Sorry I can't answer that. I run a pretty simple and clean set up. My Protools rig is the only audio I playback and all is well there.

I'm having the same issue. Spent 2 hrs with support to no avail.
MacPro 10.10.1 Running PT HD Native 11.3 , thunderbolt to 16x16 HDio

Had to do a complete wipe and fresh instal but all appears well.

I don't know if you guys saw this in the Pro Tools 11.3 readme.

"On Mac OS X 10.10 (Yosemite) only, iTunes does not work with HDX or HD|Native hardware using the AvidCoreAudio manager. (PTSW-194693)"

I haven't heard of any change of this with OS X 10.10.1 so i assume it's the same.

There seems to be some issues with the Avid CoreAudio manager on Yosemite and not that is was all that great before.

Quick update. I ran a tracking session over the weekend. I had 9 tracks in record with 2 aux busses for FX returns. I ran up at 96K and a sample buffer at 256. This is on a 5,1 4 core mac with 16 gigs of ram and a Native card. Protools performed perfectly. No issues. I think we ended up with 27 gigs of audio in the end. This is PT 11.3 and OS 10.10.1
