Default Digi 001/PT LE 5.1/iBook G3 500 MHz/OS 9.1/VST 27GB 7200rpm Firewire HD

First off, anyone out there using the above setup? How's it working out for you?
Also, I need (purchase) recommendations on:

- Magma laptop bus adaptor
- quiet, good sounding LE plug-ins (compression, eq, delays, & reverb)
- MasterList (or other studio-standard CD burning software)
- routine session-file backup methodology & media choices
- extension settings (FOR THE ABOVE CONFIGURATION ONLY)

Thanks.

Me again...

I see that Digi hasn't made a Firewire-spec version of MasterList yet...

Still, what CD-burning software is popular with you professionally minded, Firewire using types?

First offf an iBook is not going to work for you. No pcmcia card slot for the magma box. And an iBook 500 is not fast enough for host based processing which the Digi 001 is. Go for a Titainium or if you can find an old PowerBook G3 500. The PB processors are built faster than the ibooks.

Are you refering to the NEW iBook (released as of 3 months ago)? What is "pcmcia"?

I had heard that the Magma expanders were interfaceable with the current iBooks...

Please reassure me.

Thanks.

Even the latest iBook models do not have aType II PC Card/CardBus slot like the PowerBook does:

iBook Specs
http://www.apple.com/ibook/specs.html

Peripheral connections
<UL TYPE=SQUARE><LI>Two 12Mbps USB ports
<LI>One 400Mbps FireWire (IEEE 1394) port
The "Built-in antennas and card slot for optional 11Mbps AirPort Card; IEEE 802.11b DSSS compliant " is an internal slot for adding an Airport card or similar type only, not for a standard Type I or Type II PC Card or CardBus card like the one I believe is required to connect the Magma chassis.

----------------------
PowerBook G4 Specs

http://www.apple.com/powerbook/specs.html

Expansion<UL TYPE=SQUARE><LI>One 400-Mbps FireWire (IEEE 1394) port <LI>Two 12-Mbps USB ports <LI>One PC Card and CardBus slot
- Support for one Type I or Type II PC Card or CardBus card
This type of card slot is what people are referring to when they talk about PCMCIA cards

The people at www.magma.com can help a lot, and will be able to tell you the different configurations they have tested with their chassis.
