Default Im New!!
Howdo ,

Ive decided to jump into the dark art of pro tools - Ive started off on windows for the time being just to try and get my head around it.(Well havent started yet purchased it on friday so its being shipped at the moment).Anything of major importance I should know before I start??

Ive a funny feeling this forum is going to be my new best friend.

SANDRA Report will be your main way to communicate your system specs to other users here should you need help. I would install it and do some of the tweaks suggested in the threads above to your system while you are waiting for your package.

Become familiar with these optimizations. PT is very particular.

Welcome Paul... Lotta good folks on here that will help you, (even when you might think they're not), and steer you in the right direction.... Although, if you get a private message asking you to dance on your webcam in a shower hat for free plugins, don't. ( When I got mine they were all for Mac... I was gonna dance for the windows set but wifey took her shower cap back and hid it.. )

Paul - Welcome to the DUC and to Pro Tools. Just remember, no matter how long some here have been using PT, they ALL started out as newbies! My newbie status to PT began in 2007. Yes, the learning curve is a bit steep...but it is worth all the time invested to learn it. I've never had so much fun creating music as I have since going down the PT road! And the folks here are knowlegable and helpful.

Most of all, be patient with yourself in learning PT. Take one bite at a time.
