These are the worst cables ever made. I use Monster snakes on everything. They cost alot more than other snakes. But if your using them in a live rig, Monster has a no questions asked return policy. If you take new Monster home and cut it half, they will give you a new one at no charge. So after a few months of moving your live rig around and a snake or two begins to go bad, just take it back to the store where you bought it and they'll give you a new one. Tim Critical Bill |

Check into Canare also. Their web site is "canare.com". I've used their video cables for years and have to say their awesome. I'm sure their audio stuff is just as good.

Re: Quality Snakes? Horizon, RAPCO ?
My vote for worst cables made goes to HOSA. I made the mistake of going cheap, and mine are falling apart day by day. Totally worthless, and should be avoided at all costs.
While their high end stuff is very good, I think Monster stuff is hyped and overpriced. I'm looking for something in the middle ground, that sounds good and is reliable. Probably the best route is to build your own cables. Re: Quality Snakes? Horizon, RAPCO ?
Whirlwind makes good snakes with good connectors. Canare had a problem with their multi snakes where the fanouts and stage boxes didn't have enough pins to give every XLR it's own ground so they bussed some of the grounds. It made it dificult to run line level with mics that needed phantom power in the same snake and next to impossible to run intercom on the snake with mics. The newer snakes have corrected this problem. I highly recomend the newer Canare snakes but be sure that if you get a multi snake that the pin count on the fanouts equal 1 XLR x 3. If you have an 8 pair snake it should have 24 pins...

You're right, davidp158. I got Horizon and Hosa mixed up. Hosa have got the worst cables ever made. Horizons are OK. But my vote is still Monster.
