I scoffed until I heard the demo.
If I didn't know, I would have thought it was Vocalign w/heavy Autotune.

You goddabekiddin' !

Any idea how this works? do you sing a line and then it interprets it, or do you have to laboriously type in each word, note, affectation, etc? Could be great for backing vox. Is a grammy nomination far behind? -New catagory: "Best song by a non-human"

Why couldn't they do this for sax?

Ouch!!!!!!!!!!!

You know that it's just the BGs that are done by Lola, right? Still, I suppose it's just a matter of time...

I knew this would eventually happen....I just can't believe came so soon and is so inexpensive. $300?

Just as music production changed when loops and samples with sequencers allowed guys with ideas, but no playing chops to be able to write and make music, so with this will change everything. In the early days you didn't have to ask, "Are those real drums/strings, etc" the sounds were so bad you could tell in a second. But today, with a good programmer you can be fooled. In just a year or so, you'll be for sure wondering about BGVs and probably some leads.

Here's a question....how long will it be before the first #1 pop tune contains a lead vocal by a virtual singer? I'd say about a year from January. My guess is it will either be a gimmick record or a major artist singing a duet with it...or her, or him...

I think Lola sounds kinda hot.

It may be worth buying just so I can make her talk dirty.

What usually happens with these things is that someone has a major worldwide hit totally hammering the new technology so that everyone knows exactly what it sounds like. Then comes the backlash -noone wants a record to sound to much like that one with the 'weird vocal sound'. Everyone still uses it but they hide it and use it for general sound mangeling. Next, Yamaha improve on the technology and we go round again.

It's gonna be interesting for all those publisher song demos - all these songwriters are going to be using the same (cheap) session singer

Still it's the begining of a new era. It was always gonna happen someday. I'm quite looking forward to it really
