Re: Can I use a Mackie ProFX12 with ProTools 10?
Darryl,
send me an e-mail to [email protected]. I've got all my screen shot stored in a folder that I'll share with you. |

Re: Can I use a Mackie ProFX12 with ProTools 10?
And what I was trying to get at with the earlier screen shot requests for the Audio MIDI utility audio window was what exact USB device the ProFX12 presented to the operating system. I'd still like to see that window.
It is starting to sound like maybe the ProFX12 shows up as separate input and output devices. In which case you'll need to configure an aggregate audio device using the Audio MIDI setup utility. There should be a default "Pro Tools Aggregate IO" device there. Select that and check on say "Built-in Output" to use your Mac's build-in output for output and then on whatever the USB device is the output of the ProFX12 (which you want to be the input of Pro Tools). Then in pro Tools select that aggregate IO device as the playback engine. Does that work? The other thing is to skip Pro Tools for now and get Garage band working with this interface. The separate input and output device selectors in Garageband's Preferences>Audio make this a little easier. You'll get better help if you can post screenshots. |

Re: Can I use a Mackie ProFX12 with ProTools 10?
OK we got this sorted out offline.
As I was suspecting the ProFX12 appears as two separate USB audio devices, a stereo input device and a stereo output device, in OS X they both appear named as "USB Audio CODEC". And there are no drivers to install, these are just generic class compliant devices. To get the inputs on this mixer to work in Pro Tools using the computer speakers as the OP wanted all that was needed (on a Mac) was to create an aggregate audio device consisting of Built-in Output and "USB Audio Codec 2 in/0 out". And then select that as the playback engine in Pro Tools. Darryl |
