New owner. First impressions
Very positive so far.
Got the unit a couple days ago... Haven't had a lot of time to work with it. I had an hour or so Saturday, so I was going to take it to our church and set up a couple quick patches. I plugged into my amps return, booted the eleven and disabled cab sims. Then I started out by just running through some of the factory presets. I was digging some of them, some were kinda Meh... I was going through them pretty quickly until... Patch C1-Crunchy It was pretty stinking cool... so I dialed in the eq and wow!! I spent the whole rest of my time jamming on that plexi model. It was quite nice I had to get up quite early this morning to run back to the church to set up my controller to use with the unit! I stayed on the Crunchy patch all morning.. using the guitar volume and the "Green" model pedal for the whole service. It was awesome! It cleaned up so well It passed for a clean sound (well clean enough) for the mellower stuff. Only thing I really had trouble with was... 1. I had to re-position the volume pedal after the amp block... That really help made it more responsive to the guitar volume knob... 2. the friggin NOISE GATE!!! GGrrrr!!! I hope I have found the answer to this... I couldn't find it this morning in time, so had to suffer through it. But then this evening, I read in another thread it is part of the amp controls? I hope so... I never looked into the amp controls, I just tweaked the eq from the main screen and got lost jamming!! I went through my chain 3 or 4 times this morning looking for it, but never thought it might be part of the amp controls!!! Will have to correct this asap. Anywhoooo... That is my first impression and use of the 11R

Re: New owner. First impressions
Time to read the user guide. Which I thought you had before... the noise gate is clearly described there, and is staring you in the face... once you realize the front panel Amp (and other) GUI screens have multiple pages.... so yes not an uncommon thing to get stuck on.

Re: New owner. First impressions
I read most of the user manual... that maybe the same as user guide?
But yea... If it was there, I sure missed it I did find it and kill it tough. BOOM!! problem solved. It was making volume swells a nightmare. Don't recall who posted that thread about it, but thanks!! I am working installing the necessary accouterments to load some of the user created presets!

Re: New owner. First impressions
I wrestled with the noise gate for a long time. It was either WAY to strict or WAY to much crap came through. I eventually found a happy balance but I have to say the noise gates after the 2.0 firmware update seem to be much better. I can't explain why but I'm much happier with them after the X-Pack.

Re: New owner. First impressions
Cool!
thanks for weighing in. I would prolly care more about the gate if I was a higher gain player... But I am basically a low to mid, blues/rock tone kinda guy. Play in church only... the gate was really getting in the way of swells and had very little to do as far as noise suppression. At full gain and volume, the noise was very minimum with my settings. But like you said... I guess it is a decent enough gate, as I never noticed it was present until I was doing volume swells. Anywho... one service and one practice under it's belt and still impressing me.

Re: New owner. First impressions
I play there as well and I love my 11 rack
I even have it in front of my Marshall 1/2 stack and it sounds great

Re: New owner. First impressions
YYR123, thanks for the reply.
Another service and still more love for the 11. I am hoping to finish getting it all set up and programming done this week. I've been using an external WAH but plan to use the inbuilt WAH here after. Then all that will be on the floor is my controller and a dual foot switch. I am still amazed at how well this thing reacts to the guitar volume. So far I have not needed to change patches!! One plexi patch with a drive and comp and using guitar volume... it has covered everything!
