Toolbox Rig - Best board and Chip?

I've been reading of some compatibility problems with the AM3 cards of late. Reccomended DIGI 001 system don't seem to apply for the AM3 card. Is it advisable to stay away from VIA chipset boards with the AM3? Is Intel 815EP the way to go? And what of ACPI problems and interypt sharing IRQ 9 in many instances of ACPI Enabled boards?
