DAE TO SLOW OR DISK FRAGMENTED ??
When i try too play 24 tracks in 24 bit mode the system stops and the message "dae could not complete this request disk may be too slow...etc" . The problem occures on both internal and external scsi disk which is very fast . The problem do not occure in 16 bit mode .I hav 0.1 % fragmented files on both disks and no corrupted files . I have tryed to increase dae buffer size on different levels and increasing dae memory . Nothing helps !! . In 24 bit mode the digi 001 only play back 18 tracks and nothing more .
My system is G4 350mhz , 320mb ram ,seagate barracuda 17 gb scsi disk . Please some one help !!! |

Re: DAE TO SLOW OR DISK FRAGMENTED ??
What do you mean it happens on both internal and external drives? Are you set up correctly (OS/app on one drive, audio on the other)?
What SCSI card do you have? Is it set up correctly? |

Re: DAE TO SLOW OR DISK FRAGMENTED ??
I bet it is your Adaptec SCSI card. I know I red about that some time ago on the DUC. Try to go back and check it out. ("dcornutt" is one of the guys who knows about everything about "it"!. )
You could red my own post if you want. It's not the same situation but they are similarities...Unfortunately I don't have a solution for my problem, but I learn to live with it.... You could also try to have a separate IDE drive for Audio inside your G4/350. My IBM IDE drive works very god! And I red also about many other people using it with great success. God luck! / P.
