10.3.8 with Control 24 Error message ???

Hi Team,
I've just installed a new SSD into my Mac Pro 3.1.
Its a complete clean install of Mavericks and Pro Tools 10.3.8 HD
When I go to enable my control 24 on the External controllers page I get a message 'An error ocurred while trying to establish ethernet connection. Please check all connections'.
Now this was all fine under 10.3.6 on Lion.

Anyone out there silly enough to do what I've done?
There were many posts saying Pro Tools was fine under Mavericks.. except the uninstaller doesn't work.
So is this a 10.3.8 "Undocumented feature" or a Maverick thing?
