Default Problem recording additional tracks

ProTools is recording sound from Track 1 (input L) onto Track 2 on top of what I'm recording for the new track (input R). For instance, the click track and drum tracks record on the guitar track when I try to record guitar. Hitting the "solo" button on the mixer stops this, but then I can't hear the other track when I'm recording... I'm on a PC, using a Sound Blaster Audigy Platinum sound system, and I'm using the phono input on the main drive exclusively... Any ideas?

Default Re: Problem recording additional tracks

Is it just me? I'm working with the Sound Blaster Audigy Platinum system on a 1.2 ghz pentium class Win/ME machine. Recording becomes a problem when I want to record and listen to pre-recorded tracks as I record new tracks. It appears there is no interface between the software and the audio hardware. ProTools Free takes ANY sound; system sound, CD audio, internal click, any pre-recorded track, and routes it onto the new track regardless of the input selection. I've been poking around with input selection and sends, muting, soloing - anything I can think of. How do I get ProTools Free to select from the various inputs of the board (and there are several; a 1/4" phono jack, RCA, optical, SPDIF, and midi), and eliminate other incoming sounds, (like sounds from a neighboring track)?

Use your windows control-panel (the little speaker on your task-bar) to set the recording input only to your line-in.....
