Pro Tools First 2018.7 Xpand!2 Presets Missing

I have Windows 10 64-bit and Pro Tools First 2018.7.

When I open the Xpand!2 view I do not see any presets loaded; it just says "<factory default>". I am able to select individual components but not any presets. I have uninstalled ProTools and reinstalled twice with the same results. I also tried running XPand!2 setup.exe but nothing changed.

From what I understand, XPand!2 should be installed (not a separate installer) when I install this version of Pro Tools First.

My .big file is installed here: C:\Program Files\AIR Music Technology\XPand2

My .ptxp files are installed here: C:\Users\steph\Documents\Pro Tools\Track Presets\Avid\AIR Instruments Bundle\XPand!2

I tried opening a case which was promptly closed since I do not have support . Please help! My head hurts from banging it on my desk.

Xpanda2 is listed as a seperate install, for Windows it’s a 1.23Gb file by itself. You should be able to get it from your product page.

Have you tried “Import Setting” (in the third image) and manually locate and load the preset file?

Xpand!2 is supposed to be included in the PT First install. There is not a separate install in my products page. Application manager shows it as being installed.

I tried clicking 'import settings' but i'm not sure where the files should be. Do you know where the preset files should be located?

I guess it must be different for PT First. Is that the free version?

With PT First being free you will prolly be last in line for support if any.

I’ve had a look and yup you should have it. That .ptxp file should be the one..... have you tried reloading it? I’m on a Mac so I can’t compare the file location with you being on a Win.

Also you might find your version of Xpanda2 is a very stripped down version. xpanda by itself is US$99 so maybe you don’t get things like presets per say but have to create your own.

Yes it's the free version. I bought a Scarlett recording device and it came bundled with it.

Yes the presets are not in that default tab or the "Preset tab at the top, that is for saving and naming user defined presets.... If you have not already found them they are accessed in the 4 dark rectangular synth channel windows on the left side of the GUI ( in the upper right of that rectangle) there is a little down arrow, click that and a dropdown with presets will open

I thought there should be a list in the box that says "factory defaults", like the screenshot I've attached, that contains drum presets in each of those 4 blocks for different styles of music.

opps you are correct I was thinking about the "Presets" button at the very top

So yes You should have not only the instrument category list but the actual patches as well
