Default BUFFER SIZE PROBLEMS...

Sometimes PT LE drives me crazy... Why...?

Suddenly PT asks me to increase the buffer size... Ok... I do it... I set PT to "1024"... But, out of the blue (again) PT asks me to change the settings... But at this time, PT asks me to decrease the buffer... Then I set it to "512"... Then PT asks me again to increase... And decreasing once more... And increasing...

My system is:

Athlon 2.4
768 DDR
System HD 80 GB (C:) "7200rpm" NTFS
Files HD 120 GB (E:) "7200 rpm" FAT32
Files HD 80 GB (F:) "7200 rpm" FAT32
Video 32 MB PCI (my AGP slot is damaged)
DVD-recorder LG-4020B
AMIII card (PT LE)
Delta 2496 (others softwares)
Windows XP

So, what is going on...?

Please, I need somebody to help me...

Thanks in advance...

RENAN

sounds like my girlfriend trying to make a desicion !

I really think it's your PCI video card - I tried to run PTLE with a PCI card for video, and it ran like crap, same sort of situation.

What's wrong with your AGP slot?

You can try to set windows to "Best Performance" set your display adapter at 16 bit, Load your Bios defaults, and try to free up IRQ's by disabling unused ports on your machine, USB, LAN, Serial, paralell, anything you aren't using.... and make sure the digi card is on it's own IRQ, swapping PCI slots if need be, but you've got to get rid of that PCI video card, it's killing you.

I have the same problem and my computer is 3 months old, everythings new exept the AMIII card. Maybe that's the problem.

Yes, I added a pci card to add a 3rd monitor and Pro Tools hasn't liked it. While recording the minimum number of samples in the playback I could have was 512. Otherwise I would get some type of a buffer underrun with some firewire error. It's a real bitch for latency issues. I really hate this because I want that 3rd monitor for plugins. The pci card is definitely fighting with the firewire pci card. Maybe it's a pci bus issue. I might have to give up that 3rd monitor.

Anybody out there running 3 or more monitors? What is your configuration?
