Default Converting Stereo to Mono in Edit view

Is there a relatively quick and easy way to convert a stereo file in the Edit view to a mono-summed file? I'm not talking about the split to mono function. I need the stereo signal to be summed, within the Edit view, quickly, either by plugin or menu selection. I've got LE 7.3.1 on XP...

Thanks...

Hello,

All stereo in protools is summed mono already, just create two mono audio tracks and drag the files in to them from your stereo track.

My point is, I need to cut down on the "voices", because I've got a bunch of tracks that won't play. I want to convert these stereo tracks to mono tracks, thus halving the "voices", making it possible for all tracks to play... Breaking up a stereo track into two mono tracks doesn't decrease the voices...

Send to two mono aux tracks one for the left and one for the right. Or use multi mono plugs.

Some tips to get more tracks.
