Default Double notes when recording w. sustain?

Hello all -

I don't know if this has been up before, but I couldn't find anything, so here goes:

When I record piano with sustain pedal via MIDI, ProTools "doubles" my notes?
It records the actual thing I play + the same in very short notes.
This makes the playback "die" or after only a split second and not the full duration of the chord.

I have experienced this on both the big HD system but also on my small Mbox2 mini.

Am I doing anything wrong? I want to record both the sustain action and the notes I play.
(it takes time to draw the automation afterwards)

I have ProTools LE and Korg/Nord MIDI devices.

Thanks in advance.
