midisport 8x8 locks up my system

Well,

I just upgraded my system to the amd dual core 4800 and premium mobo, with 2G of ram and 2 Sata drives. I figured I'd put my Midisport 8x8 to the test and I recorded some midi and sure enough, it locked up again. Of couse I had to reboot the system and start over. I got an updated driver a while back from the maudio site and hoped that would cure the problem but I guess it didn't. I went back to the midi ports on the rack unit and I haven't had any problems with it so far. Though, I need a few more midi outs or I'd be content to use it.

Has anyone else had any problems with a midisport 8x8? Is there possibly something on the unit that I'm not configuring correctly or something? Thanks for any help.

Hey Johnnie, I had the same problem when recording with my Triton. I dont think your problem is with the 8x8. Not sure what instruments you have hooked up, but I beleive your receiving a looped midi signal, which crashes your session, causing you to have to reboot. Might want to try and change the MIDI Thru setting on ProTools. If that dont work. You have to trace that signal. Find out which instrument is causing the problem by recording one at a time and do a process of emlimination.

Good luck - I just gave up on it. Cant get the Triton to stop sending the signal.
