Default Polarity

From digi web site:
November 11, 1999
As a result of some of the posts on the Digidesign Users Conference regarding polarity when monitoring with the ProControl monitor section, we’ve performed tests on the AUDIO OUTPUT connector to determine if a problem exists. We have discovered a reverse polarity condition that affects the Control Room Out left/right, Slate/Dub Out left/right and Control Room ALT Out left/right connections. The (+) and (-) pin locations for these outputs on the AUDIO OUTPUT D-sub connector are reversed from what is shown in the ProControl User Guide.

I purchased my PC in December, how do I know if it has this problem???
With my serial # ???

Please help.

I just got a PC setup too. I don't think that digi has fixed this on any units.. even the newest. You just have to swap the hi and neutral wires on the connections to your monitors.. If you need more help, let me know.

Talk about confusing! Just got my brand-new PC, and Digi is shipping a doc that describes the polarity problem with diagrams that show the correct pinout, and a table describing "what it is, and what it should be" but the diagram is opposite of what the table says is the correct one. God, even my post is confusing. So, IS PIN #14 HOT OR COLD???? Til then, I have to keep monitoring through my HUI. Oh well. Nothing like a $2700 volume knob!

It's simple. When we got our PC, we wired the DB25 connector as shown. Then reversed pin 2 and 3 on the XLR feeding the powered monitors. Both speakers are in phase with each other even if you don't do this mod... The relative phase of other outputs is the issue.
