Just trying to figure out how lows can be out of phase with highs?? ...unless they are integer multiples/divisibles of each other, otherwise you will always get phasing taking place (in fact even if they are integer multiples/divisibles of each other phasing would still take place).

Does it just refer to the start point of the duty cycle of the waveform?

Phase gives us tonality and harmonic content does it not? So phase aligning everything would be super clinical!

Am definitely gonna try the BBE though

A:)

I had a stereo 1 RU BBE gadget for a while, thought it was of most use over samples and synths, it did scarey things to acoustic sources. A mate always liked it on his Musicman bass however...

I have both (Aphex and BBE) in hardware versions and wanted to say; they should never be confused with one another. I would use them both more if ADC were to come to Native PT.

The relative phase of bands can change with respect to what it was originally. EQ always does that unless it's of a linear phase design.

Which tonal instruments are, or near enough.

Not in the usual sense.

No, it only describes temporal placement of individual (theoretical) frequencies with respect to something or other. Phase changes can reduce punchiness or clarity under certain circumstances, or even cause things to sound just plain weird (unprofessional).

Try out TriTone's Phase Tone plug-in, too. It's a cruder version of the same idea. It's more an FSU thing than a phase correction device, although I have used it to help badly botched spoken word recordings before.

Cheers for the reply daeron80. It is an interesting thing phase. So the BBE may be used to even frequency phase created by non-linear EQ units?
I do understand what phase is and how it works with regards to sum, difference, harmonics, overtones, partials, EQ etc..., was trying to figure out, in my mind, exactly what it is the BBE did to the frequencies.

Will have a listen to tritones thingy also.

A:)
