Default Looking for someone running an HD Native Thunderbolt system and Waves to compare with

Hey all,

I know I have posted a lot about running at 96kHz 64Buffer but I am still having some nagging issues. It would be a HUGE help if someone who runs HDN TB and PT11.02 on Mountain Lion (even better if on a very recent Haswell Mac) and some Waves AAX64 - (Gold, Plat, SSL - any of these would work) wouldn't mind doing a couple of tests sessions to compare results.

I know it is a very specific request but I can't seem to make progress comparing with people running cMP, PCIe and internal Harddrives.

Thanks in advance!
The tests will be very straightforward and should not consume much bandwidth... I put down 20 minutes but at my place I get errors very quickly.

If you do give this a go please specify:
Computer, OS rev, ProTools ver., what HD used for audio and how is it hooked up

All at 96kHz, 64 buffer

1) New session, 8 audio tracks, no plugins.
Note PT CPU system usage with Activity monitor (not the ProTools one - the one in Apple Utilities)
- Record all 8 for 1 minute
- Hit undo (CMD Z)
repeat process 10 times or stop if PT CPU system usage magically doubles or triples (again Activity Monitor in Apple Utilities - in my system the ProTools usage will go from some something like 30% to 130% - for no apparent reason - CPU temps go up dramatically for this "phantom" load) .

2) New session - 4 audio tracks
- record anything onto the 4 tracks for 60 seconds (signal generator is fine)
- Put Waves Vcomp on each track (or SSL Channel is good - or CLA compressor also fine)
- loop playback for 10 minutes (adjust some parameters during playback)
- Does it stop pretty quick with -9073 or -9172?
- This is a WAVES specific thing. All AVID plugins are working with no issues here.

Thanks!
-Lee

Hi,

This is very small load and shouldn't be an issue.

I'm waiting for my brand new retina MBP to arrive before holidays so unless nobody else can help you right away, I'm going to do some basic testing as soon as I get that installed. Sadly, you'll have to wait too, unless someone else kicks in :)
