Default New Mbox 2 Pro 7.4 install - dead - 7.1 was fine with original Mbox - HELP!

I just got the Mbox2 Pro for Christmas. It came with 7.4 LE software.

For the past five years I was happily using the original Mbox with 7.1 software via USB.

I uninstalled the 7.1 software and installed 7.4. The MBox2 Pro lights up beautifully. But when I try to run 7.4 I get this error when I try to load a previous PT session or create a new one. Hence - PT is not working. I also cannot change the sample rate in the PT Options/Hardware Setup to anything besides 44.1 If I try to change to say 48 kHz it snaps back to 44.1

Pro Tools could not set sample rate to specified value

I've deleted the Digidesign preferences file on my C:\Documents and Settings drive, emptied the trash, rebooted, reinstalled. Same problem.

I am running XP, have a 3.0 GHZ processor and 3 gigs of RAM.

Digidesign Tech Support is closed for the next 4 days.

Any help? Thanks!
