Default Partitioning a PT project hard drive?

just wondered if it affects the performance of a dedicated PT project drive if u partition it and use one partition for something else. being an amateur it will take me a while to fill up a 1 terabyte hard disk so is it ok to use one half just for storage eg photos etc assuming ofcourse that i'm not using the HD for anything else while PT is running.

thanks

Depends on what you want to do with the rest of the drive. For samples, it would be bad. But for backups and general storage, it would be fine.

only for storage, nothing that would be accessed while PT is running.
thanks for that.

I've done that in the past on a few drives. I had a partition for audio and the other for storage and restoration files etc. These days I just keep the long term storage stuff in there own folder or even a separate drive if possible. That said, I've had audio partitions go bad while the storage partition with the storage files remained ok. My storage stuff I have backed up 3 or 4 times over many drives. It's my paranoid nervous tick.

Yes. Partition 50-50 or 25-75 and be sure to set the first partition for your sessions and last for storage.
