Default Creating an OMF export

I just had a client ask me if I could export some sessions as an OMF file. I told him that I would have to find out. I honestly don't know what that is or how I would do it if I could. Could not find the terminology OMF in the reference manual either. Can anyone help? I'm running LE5.1 on a G4 800Mhz. There are 12 sessions most of them Big. lot's of editing and automation. What do I need to know besides how to do it. What kind of problems do I need to be aware of etc. I'm sorry to flail my ignorant self onto the discussion board. I frequent the site alot just to see wazzup and have learned much from your conversatrions. Hope someone can help.

Default Re: Creating an OMF export

OMF=Open Media Framwork. OMF is a file format that allows sessions to be exchanged between other apps such as Pro Tools, Digital Performer and Logic. Unfortunately, the last I remember, DP and Logic have OMF exporters all ready included in their software. Digi in your version uses Digi Translator, a utility to export and save sessions in OMF format. The best I remember is that Digi Translator cost about $500.00. However, you can check the Digidesign Download page to see if there is trial version. I doubt there is but who knows. If it is audio files that we're talking about, I would find out specifically why the OMF files are needed. If you do, perhaps we can come up with a work around Digi Translator to give your client what they need.
