i'm disappointed! what should i do??

Hi,for my very first time i bought a Mac Book Intel Core 2 Duo 2 Ghz with the Leopard 10.5.1 and i'm trying to install my LE 6.8.1 (i use a Mbox 2) and it's imposible!! What should i do?

A. Can i change the OS to Tiger?

B. can i try to install a newer LE like the LE 7.3 ?

Please help me because its my first Mac and now i am disappointed!!

Maybe try 7.3 instead. I don't think Leopard was out when 6.8.1 was...

Two major things going on here:

1. Leopard isn't even qualified to work with the most recent version of Pro Tools (7.4), never mind trying to make it work with 6.8.1.

2. Pro Tools LE 7.1.1 is the first version that works with Intel Macs.

So, that said, you need to purchase 7.4. Even though Leopard is not qualified yet, some users have made it work just fine. Your mileage may vary.

But 6.8.1 absolutely will not work with the configuration you have. I'm not the slightest bit surprised you can't install it.

Hey mate. Im in the same ballpark as you. I upgrading to Leopard (insert Homer Simpson like sound here)

I have a Digi 002 and just downloaded 7.4 thinking it would work, it didnt. I even tried it on my Vista machine and it didnt work haha. So its probably a digi 002 problem for me, but in your sense. Looks like you just bought your self a ticket on the "Waiting for DIGI to release a Leopard compatibility" train. Welcome aboard!!

In order to even work on Leopard, you would need at the very least the PT 7.4 software. There are those that DO have it working---but it is NOT SUPPORTED nor is it GUARANTEED to work. I do know the details of why it is not yet supported but I'm not allowed to discuss those details. I will say this---it is the highest priority for Digidesign to have LE working on Leopard. So for those that question it, just let it be and they will have it working as fast as can be. New operating systems are a challenge for software developers, now imagine that software is audio---all bets are off then.

As to what to do--if your new Mac was one that came configured with LEopard, you can't go backwards---sorry. As to VISTA, that's even a worse option at this point IMHO. I'm a Windows guy, but Vista is a mess of an OS for audio at this point.

Some feel that Digidesign is doing nothing about it, they are. They are RIGHT there....but there is one other thing that needs to take place. So I'm posting this because I have been informed as to what that is, but asked not to post what it is. In other words, I'm at least passing along that I know we're close...REALLY really close. And for those that need this to happen, just hang in there. A little bit of info is better than no info. Sorry to be vague---but I could say nothing and leave ya'll to wonder even more. WHo knows, maybe someone could get me to spill it--I have a big mouth
