Default Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library error.

I'm trying to install Pro Tools 8 on a brand new computer (running XP, and no, IE8 is not installed) and when the menu pops up when I put the disc in, and I click "Install Pro Tools LE," I get one of two error messages:

I could not find any information about this error happening with Pro Tools. Is there any way this can be fixed?

Norton is a system hog and I would disable it when you are working in PT.

This error can have several causes:

- incompatible plugins
- Pace driver not up-to-date
- a client has a sloppy programmed rewire connection (Fruity Loops)

But in general it would be good if you posted your system specs:

Dylan, just curious, what are you planning to use for an audio drive?

temetrepo, you might consider starting you own thread on this, you have a different system and the solution could be very different also.

Be sure you do not have IE8 installed.

I wish I could answer that but again my computer illiteracy prevents me from doing so...
What is an example of an audio drive
