Default Convert PT from surround to L+R

Hello!

I work at a studio, we have a D-Control and PT 7.4. Initially, the system was set up for 5.1, but we need to reconfigure it and PT to basic 2-mix stereo.

It looks like I can change I/O routing to move the right channel, but where do I take it from there?

Anyone else had to do this? If I'm in the wrong forum, please set me straight.

With thanks,

Ben

you want out 1 & 2 to feed L & R (1 & 5) of the Xmon?

this is why I cross wire Xmons to SMPTE/ITU (L, R, C, Lfe, Ls Rs) when I install them

easiest thing to do is to cross-patch the inputs at the patchbay

Hi Craig, if I understand you correctly, yes.

The main goal is so that I can get L and R out of AES connector on the 192 to send to a Dorrough Loudness monitor. We're starting some mixing for TV, and I figured this was the easiest/quickest way to handle it.

I guess I'm thinking that I can cross wire the Xmon outputs, then reconfig I/O when I open the session and that would do it, right?

The ver of PT and OS is too old to get a plug-in for level monitoring, hence the Dorrough.

If you or anyone else have another suggestion, I'm all ears.

Craig and others, please forgive the density of my brain- I'm trying to understand this one. Here is my dilemma:

1. D-Control originally set up for surround.

2. Console in this studio has never been, and never will be used for surround.

3. I want to reconfigure so that L-R appears as 1-2 out of the console so that I may configure the output so that it feeds left and right out on channels 1 and 2, but I can feed AES digital out at the same time. That way AES can monitor Left and Right out and feed external loudness metering at the same time.

I understand that I'll need to open I/O on every session so that I can move channel 5 to channel two, but how shall I reconfigure inputs and outputs on the xmon?

Again, thank you for your time and energy.

the Xmon it's self has a fixed order

what I do is make a special cables that that makes the is L, R, C, Lfe, Ls, Rs on one side and L, Rs, C, Rs, R, Lfe on the other that goes into the Xmon and back out if not going to a fan out to the B-chain
