Right.
Btw I've seen that many other users used to print their mix on audio track instead of doing btd. Which are the advantages by doing the mix in this way?
Because if you hear something which needs changing you can stop it, make a change and drop in rather than starting from the beginning again.

Of course when you're doing the very final mix down it's better to do it all in one pass, but the ability to drop in mix prints saves a lot of time when it's just work in progress.

I can't do anything during BTD. I have to either discard the bounce if I hear something I want to change, or wait until it's finished.

It's not uncommon for me to do automation rides during a print, and RTD allows me to do that. If I nail it all in one pass, great - I'm done.

It could be nice to be able to move at least the faders when bouncing to disk

Yes, I do this. I was referring to a feature for making some manual corrections when bouncing. This is why someone likes to rtd instead of btd

I can't believe that this type of bug was included in an update. Really made my night stressful and had to revert to a previous system install to run a session the last night. Plus I didn't even get time to make a proper pot of espresso before my client showed up ready to track so I was grumpy on top of being annoyed! Obviously, the software hadn't been put through the paces on a TDM rig before it was released. If the software isn't going to be properly tested on certain hardware, shouldn't you include that information with the release? I wouldn't have installed it. On a side note, I had the software running properly using my prism orpheus and HD authorization in my home studio for a couple days, so I didn't think there would be an issue when I booted the studio tower from my laptop internal in target disk mode (which I've been doing since 10.3.2). 10.3.8 was working perfectly for me except for 2 things… every time I open pro tools it runs out of memory while scanning for plugins the first time I open it.(still not fixed in 10.3.9 and the main reason for the install) and even if check the box "do not automatically check for updates" the update manager still pops up and says "this is the most recent version of pro tools" even if it isn't. Whats up with that? I'd love to see those issues addressed, rather than crippling functionality in upgrades.

We have reproduced this in house and logged the bug for Engineering.

We have also added this to the Late Breaking Technical Issues on the Pro Tools 10.3.9 Info & Downloads page (which links to a dedicated KB article that you can subscribe to).

At this time, rolling back to 10.3.8 or earlier is the only workaround if you need this functionality.

Thanks,
JC

Default Re: Input Monitoring Bug with Protools 10.3.9

Same issue here in 10.3.9. Really strange input monitoring. I was going crazy trying to figure out why this was happening. I remembered a friend was having the same problem. After a clean un install of pro tools, then a fresh install with 10.3.8 all is well in the world. DO NOT UPGRADE TO 10.3.9 !!!
