Part of the problem is PT10 is not approved for running under Windoze 8. Is there some way you can get a copy of Win 7 and install that instead? No Win 7 compatibility mode in Win 8 but wipe your hard drive clean and install Win 7. Better yet replace that 5400 rpm drive with a proper 7200 rpm drive with a fresh install of Win 7.

Other problems/issues: do you have a second drive for Pro Tools to record to? Not a partition on your main drive but a totally separate drive? Absolutely needed for good operation. Next is that your hard drives have to be 7200 rpm or faster - that 5400 rpm in your system won't cut it - but I kind of covered that above.

Have you done all the system optimizations recommended? Things like no disk indexing, no wireless network stuff, etc.?

Your computer - off the shelf or a home build? What is a 6cell4700? Battery pack or something else? If battery pack then I'm guessing you're on a laptop - they have all kinds of power saving features that need to be turned off. A PT machine must never be allowed to go into sleep mode and some Windoze machines can also turn off USB ports as part of being 'green' which isn't cool.
