I ordered a transport, the Canadian distributor has the Artist series listed as discontinued.

Anyone from Avid want to confirm?

The least they can do if release an SDK so we can write our own interface before they dump the entire line.

Dumb decision IMO. They must think it will undercut the pro tools dock, but really it's a literal perfect fit for the artist series.

Based on the trouble trying to get a new one last year, I believe the decision to discontinue was based on inability to get some of the parts to make new Transports.

I wonder how long the yellow and black OLED panels and the Control's touchscreens will remain available? The turnover is pretty high in the display area. If Avid / Euphonix didn't buy enough 5 years ago, they may not be available anymore.

I'd say they had better figure it out and be able to maintain these indefinitely, cause the next level up at $5000 for an S3 is just too damn high.

1199.00 for the new Dock (that was suppose to be released Jan 1st) plus the cost of an iPad ... i am keeping My Transport as well, even though the EuCon software crashes if i turn my computer off for even a few hours and the restart .. stupid .. as much as that Dock looks cool and i do have an iPad ... i want the EuCon to be Stable 1st .. not holding my Breath ..

That ship has already sailed if the problem is parts availability. Manufacturing techniques and processes change and so parts that could be manufactured five years ago can't be manufactured today. The only solution is to buy enough parts at that time for your expected manufacturing run and warranty replacements. Once that window is gone, it's very unlikely that it will open again.

If you are lucky then the item can be recreated with new parts and you'll see a "mod number" to cover the new version. I believe Artist Control has had at least two major mods.

How old is the Transport design now? 5+ years? A new unit really isn't a new unit - just one that is recently manufactured from parts made 5+ years ago.
