updating hardware drivers?

I'm using the 002 rack with my PC running XP and PTLE 7.1
I originally had v 6.4--when I installed the newer version of PT, there was a message notifying me that the hardware driver (I think) was not up to date.
I might be wrong--it told me that this issue could cause problems in the near future . . .
anyone know?
