Default moving midi regions

Never worked much with midi before, but now I have a project where I need to. When I grab a file from ezdrummer and put it on my edit window, it's there forever. I can't move it. My friend, who's still using PT 5.3, says he can put in a measure of midi, select his grabber tool and move it any where he wants. Not me. I can select the grabber tool, but when I move the mouse down to the file, it turns into a regular cursor. I can highlight the file and copy it, but I can't move it. I did indeed put RTFM into practice, but I either overlooked it, or I don't know what I'm looking for.
I assumed "moving midi regions" would have been in the index.

Assistance is much appreciated!

thanks,
mam

You'd either change the Track View to Region as audiogeekzine has suggested or you'd lasso the notes with the Grabber tool.

Personally, if you have Pro Tools 7.3 or higher, I'd use Zoom Toggle. Toggle In - Note View, Toggle Out - Region View.
