BFD....Triggers?
So, being VERY new to midi. Can I use a say a Roland TD5 drum kit as a trigger for BFD? And if so, can I isolate each track (i.e. track 1 Kick/ 2 snare...and so on)? After seeing so much talk about this, I'm very interested in getting this software.
Thanks for any help. Jeff |

Re: BFD....Triggers?
I can't answer for the ROLAND (but I believe the answer is yes), I am using a Yamaha DTXPRESS III kit and it triggers absolutely like a dream. I totally fell in love with the sounds of BFD.
Here is a little demo example I did with the kit/BFD http://www.keithlubrant.com/_tunes/feb_day.mp3 The song is going to be on my next CD (which I am currently recording..but with live drums!). I use BFD for quick demos and jingles. Thanks, Keith |

Re: BFD....Triggers?
Thanks for the response Keith. Sounds great. How difficult is it to program BFD with your kit?

Re: BFD....Triggers?
piece of cake...I just had to link each pad (through the kit brain) to correspond to the GM# that bfd supplies for each of their samples. It honestly wasn't that tough.
The first time I had it hooked up and the monitors blazing...it sounded incredible. Plus you can either send to to a two track mix or bust out each pad to it's on track, which gives you even MORE flexibility to EQ/compress to taste. The recording was just the 2 track version. |

Re: BFD....Triggers?
I have a TD-5 brain with BFD. I use the dual trigger cymbals and a Hart Dynamics snare drum. The rest of the pads are typical hard rubber. I have not had ANY luck mapping the triggers of this brain to BFD. There is a "learn" function, but no luck. I can get the kick, snare and toms mapped, but the dual trigger cymbals and hi hat have not worked out to well.
I like BFD so much that I have considered picking up a new brain that has already been mapped by BFD...However, please post your results or email me directly if you are successful getting the TD-5 to map to BFD! Thanks, Ross |
