Default ptle7.0cs1 firewire/dae error 002r

"dae is having trouble keeping up. your disc may be too slow or fragmented. a firewire disk could be having trouble due to the extra firewire bandwith or cpu load. (-9019)

DAE error 87"

note: my computer was running perfect with pt 6.4 cs 9, this just started after the upgrade. i figured it could be viruses/spyware slowing down the pc, so i backed everything up, and completley whiped the computer, and fresh installed windows xp, then installed sp 2. i also defragmented all drives, ran virus scans, etc. even if pt is the only application running, and the network is disabled, i still get this error. i cannot even play a milisecond of music before it cuts out. ive messed with the buffer, reinstalled the firewire drivers, and my harness is fine.

system: e machines, amd athlon 2200 (1.79 ghz) processor, 2 x 512 DDR-SDRAM, 180 gig hard drive (2 separate drives, one is partitioned into 3 areas, one of them is windows, the other is storage, the last is for pro tools sessions, the other separate drive has pro tools installed on it), Chipset : VIA P4M266/KM266 (VT8375)

Blue screens on startup are usually the cause of out of date PACE interlok Drivers. Update them. That's covered on the compatibility page, which is the very first item on the troubleshooting page.

Also, one of the items in the General Troubleshooting thread:
Quote:
Note: To enable other users to help you, please include all of your system details when posting an issue to the DUC; Pro Tools hardware, Pro Tools software version, CPU, OS version, Motherboard make/model, chipset, amount of RAM, type of hard drives used, etc.

- SiSoftware's Sandra Lite application can be used to post your full system profile:
www.sisoftware.net
Under SiSoftware Sandra, click on "Download & Buy" to download the free Sandra Lite version or purchase other versions.
Seems you must have missed that part, since you didn't post any sandra report. If you missed that part, it seems likely that you may have missed something else...

updating interlok takes me back to square one with the original problem: pt opens, but wont play, and gives me the firewire error.

well, i just go 7.0, figuring that might solve the problem. same issue. only difference is some box pops up when i open pt, saying i need to update the firmware...takes forever...then crashes the program. is there anyway to manually update the firmware? maybe thats the issue.

The firmware update is done through the program; there's no other way that I know of. Complications with the firmware update have been linked to troublesome firewire connections, though. You may want to try a different firewire interface, specifically one of the qualified ones. Also, make sure you are disabling your wireless network card when you are using PT. It has been known to cause problems (that I can attest to first hand).

yeah i do disable the wireless card. but i dont get it. before i tried this update, i could have the wireless installed, checking mail online or sumthing, and have tons of programs open, with no lag. and this was the same firewire card. why all of a sudden would it decide its not going to work with that card?
