Default The Allenstein Machine

greetings everyone,

i've been considering The Allenstein Machine that is on the first page of this thread. I noticed that the last time the post was edited was in March...is this still the best way to go, staying close to that price? I'm hoping to start getting parts within a few days or so...any recommendations from anyone who has recently done this? it seems that most who get this system are quite pleased with it. are there any problems that I should prepare for or know about before getting into this. For me the whole set up is going to be costly (w/002, krk v4, etc...) so I'm wanting to heed any caution anyone may be able to present. big up to all here, everyone is valuable, and i've learned from many.

blessed love
ras gabriel

> Gigabyte k8NS Ultra 939 motherboard- approx $230
2> AMD Athlon 4000+ CPU on a 939 socket - $539 (the next chip up in power, the athlon 64s 53 and 55 are only 10-20% faster, but cost much much more than the 4000+.
3> geforce 5700LE video card in dual-monitor mode, made from "eVGA" - AGP version - I used the latest NVidia drivers off of www.nvidia.com. - $135
4> a 200G IDE drive for primary and secondary partitions, and a 2nd drive for more data - $150
5> a $50 power supply unit for the system - not sure of which, but my local pc store advised me.
6> dvd burner - sony DRU 540 - $100
7> 2 1G chips (DDRs at 3200 at fastest speed (200) - $260 for both chips
8> regular size case - $40

its a $1500 system but is stable.

OK Matt or Allen or anyone, here is my New Egg wish list. Any tweeks or additions you would recommend? Different chip? different hard drives? And can I run two monitors with this system? I have seen a guy run two monitors keeping the edit window open on one and the mix window open on the other.

Thanks,
Richard

Unless anyone else knows better, I believe the nForce mobo's are not doing as well as the VIA versions.

The first post is stil the best system going. Either the K8V SE Deluxe or DFI Lan Party nF3 250GB board works great with AMD 64 3400 or 3700.
