Yeah, I was going to say, download the unrestricted Reaper trial and have at it - at the very least, you could see if you thought it was worth it. Even if you didn't use it for anything else, you could buy Reaper for $60 and be able to access the algorithm.

Nah, just tried it with bass, vocals and guitars...X-Form and Soundshifter destroy this thing. What gives? It was at least useable in Logic ProX...?

This is V2.01 - I installed 2.0 and it seems a tad better...but still not as good as Soundshifter when it comes to cymbals and other high frequencies...but the visual distortions don't seem as bad as in 2.01.

Soundshifter is the best I've heard especially when you kick the audio up to 96k.

Funny thing about Soundshifter - All three of the reviews on the Sweetwater site are 1 star entries from people that found out the hard way that the plugin only does pitch AND time in Pro Tools. The VST and AU versions are apparently pitch only.

It felt weird to read that people anywhere would consider us (PT users) to be lucky and/or fortunate. Almost made me buy the plugin straight away.

I wonder why they remove the stretching capability from the AU/VST versions?? Seems really odd...

It really is a great algorithm, but I find myself always bouncing back and forth depending on the source material. In general, SoundShifter seems better for percussive instruments, and X-Form better for vocals/bass/guitar.

Today I had to edit an electric guitar, so I did it with a few different ones so I could send the result to Zplane. Elastique sounded so absolutely horrible, I couldn't believe I ever thought it was any good. So, as a test I dragged it into Logic Pro X to edit with Flex Time. Exported it, and it's the greatest thing I've ever heard.

Something is wrong with the PT algorithm, I'm convinced of it. I can't even believe they're from the same coder, let alone the same algo. I'll be returning it and just using it when I need it in Logic...for free...

I haven't fired it up yet (I did end up buying it though), but from my understanding, it's an audiosuite thing, so programs other than PT would be out of luck (I guess?).

Was just informed that Zplane is not the team behind Logic's Flex Time...they do license to Studio One, Reaper, Cubase and others...but apparently I was misinformed.

That explains why it sounds so different then.
