Be careful NOT to install 10.6.8 since Avid has not yet said if it will work or not.

You might was to turn off any automatic updates. It is recommended you use the Combo anyway for any updates.

A good reminder. Don't use Auto updates(Mac or Windows) and don't be in a hurry with any update without a backup plan

Used the 10.6.8 combo update on one of my test images. Seems OK, although I had to delete the prefs and databases as the PT icon bounced for a while but the splash screen never appeared.

Works fine here, so far. I updated from 10.6.6 with the Combined Update.

Same here, Combo update on my non-production MBP -- worked a treat. No issues so far w/ PT using Core Audio. Tested a few of my go-to plugs in a test session, snooze-fest and nothing broke - just what you'd want after a big update.

As with everything else, YMMV and don't install it in production 'til you're sure it doesn't break something...AVID will probably be able to authorize this one fairly quickly... after all, they have Lion support to figure out and that's where their effort will need to be focused. :P

As an aside this update does break Parallels Coherence mode (I don't use it w/ PT so it's not applicable here, but just mentioning).

not true on parallels 5, coherence works fine!

Good to know -- I have v6 and coherence completely nuked the dock. Parallels is supposed to be issuing a patch pretty quick, but all I needed to do was turn it off and use my VM in its own window for now. Only app so far that's demonstrated an issue, PT9 still solid...knock on wood / YMMV / etc. I'm not recording with it at this point, just working on a mix but the fact that DAW & Interface are fine things are looking up.

parallels 6 also works fine

stop and shut down the VM completely and close parallels. after restart repair permissions in the disk utility.

I just did a re-install on my laptop, and upgraded to Snow Leopard. I ran all the software updates without realizing there WAS a 10.6.8, and installed it unknowingly, thinking I was getting 10.6.7. Whoops.

For me, 9 is working fine with aggregate I/O, but won't work with my 002... even with the latest 002 driver. Since my laptop is a secondary machine, I'll probably just wait until Digi updates the 002 driver rather than starting over the painful process of re-installing everything on the laptop.
