will It work?
Just ordered Pro Tools LE got the
Digidesign Mbox 2 Audio USB Interface and was wondering if I could use that with my Behringer XENYX 1204FX Mixer or would I need a new mixer compatible with Pro Tools LE. |

Re: will It work?
There's a good chance you may not need the mixer at all. It really depends on how many instruments (microphones, keyboards, guitars, etc...) you need to plug in to Pro Tools *at the same time.*
Keep in mind that as soon as you open Pro Tools - you now have a vast, powerful mixer, you have actually turned your computer into a mixer. Also ProTools is capable of a much higher quality than that Behringer. So start plugging stuff into your MBox, learn Pro Tools, and forget about that Behringer...

Re: will It work?
yea thats a very good idea, but theres one problem I need more mic channels. Thats what I use my mixer for, I can't afford the big interfaces with all the channels so cause I use the 2 mic inputs on the Interface and the 4 mic inputs on my mixer at once, to mic each drum?

Re: will It work?
Nope, that's not possible. Pro Tools only communicates with Digidesign hardware. You'd need a 002/003 if you'd want more inputs.
You didn't get the MBox Pro I assume? than you would have 4 ins..

Re: will It work?
oh ok thanks for your advise I guess I'm gonna be spending more that I thought but money well spent =D after all hey it's Pro Tools lol. In that case I will just sell my mixer or use it just for monitoring back and get a bigger interface then hopefully theirs one under a grand =D
thank you |

Re: will It work?
I have at least 7,345,762 reasons for still using a mixer, not the least of which is, instead of repatching all the time, I push a button and slide up a fader.....
As an aside, Mackie i-series Onyx mixers will work via firewire with the "universal driver" option on M-powered. |
