Drum Replacement - What's everyone using?
It kind of blows my mind that in HD (or Ultimate, whatever it's called these days) we don't have a simple audio -> midi tool but I was wondering what everyone was using for this task.
Normally I don't replace drums but I'm mixing a project that really needs some help. I don't need any libraries, just a simple audio -> midi convertor. I have Komplete and a bunch of drum libraries.

There are many, but I have used Drumagog for many years. It works well when I need to do drum replacement.

The Massey DRT audio suite plug is great, and very accurate. I think the free demo version lets you harvest the MIDI. The pro version lets you use your own sample to replace the drums. It works great.

Re: Drum Replacement - What's everyone using?
I would argue that drum replacement is not exclusively audio to MIDI converting. Plugins such as Drumagog or Sound Replacer work with audio to audio.
Before Superior Drummer 3 was released I used a stand alone version of Toontracks "Drum Tracker". This converts audio to MIDI and it is possible to use it on just OH's but will require much more user intervention to add/delete missing/false trigger points. Drumtracker is also now included as part of Superior Drummer 3 so if you have or get that plugin, which can also be standalone, that will cover your needs also. But if you don't want more libraries or happy with current plugin/program then SD3 is too costly for what you need Those are basically the only replacement plugin/programs I have experience with. I would get Drumtracker from my personal use. But its been several years since I utilized Drumagog so newer versions could offer a lot more than I am aware off. Check them out and make the call based on your wants

Re: Drum Replacement - What's everyone using?
Thanks everyone! I remember gating drums and triggering samplers in the past.
I tried the Slate demo but didn't really dig it. Nice to see some options. Appreciate the help!

Re: Drum Replacement - What's everyone using?
Here's my workflow for replacing/mixing analogue drums with digital..
Recorded Drum Audio Track (separate/individual drum/cymbal recorded) > (Plugin) Drumagog > routed to New Midi Track/Instrument Track > (plugin) Addictive Drums 2. :)

Been using Slate Trigger since version 1 and it's always worked great for me.

Re: Drum Replacement - What's everyone using?
I also like and use Trigger a fair amount, but since SD3 hit, it has become a favorite, at least unless I need samples from my Trigger library. I used to use Drumagog a lot with version 4, then some with Drumagog5, but something went sour with it and I never got it to work again(every time I tried to insert it, I'd get a -7054 error). Uninstalled, updated, reinstalled multiple times and never got it to work again(and support was a bust)
